Macleaya Microcarpa (Papaveraceae)

A big bold plant from the poppy family, plume poppy can grow to 6’ with gray green, grape leaf shaped foliage. In late summer it flowers with large, coral or white colored plumes. The leaves are dark on one side and lighter on the other making them look as though they are blinking in the wind. A gnarly perennial that is very competitive. Be careful where you plant it, but beautiful in the right spot.
