Platycodon Grandiflorum (Campanulaceae)

Balloon flower is an Asian native and has an important place in the Chinese medicinal pharmacology. A hardy plant that thrives in well drained, sandy soil. A very nice perennial that bears blue flowers from June to August and makes a nice cut flower. The buds look like an inflated balloon before the flower opens. Also comes in white and pink forms.
