Polemonium Caeruleum (Polemoniaceae)
Commonly known as Jacob’s Ladder for the narrow, opposite leaves that form ‘ladder-like’ up the stem. In late spring and early summer it produces blue flowers atop 3’ stems. The beautiful foliage lasts all summer, creating a nice contrast in the perennial garden. This is a woodland plant that occurs naturally along stream banks. So, part shade and evenly moist, cool soil. We also carry a species called ‘Yezoense’ which has a red green foliage, really upping its contrast and creating a season long display.
