Asarum europaeum (Aristolochiaceae) Wild European ginger

Similar to our native wild species with ginger scented leaves and stems and odd, inconspicuous flowers hidden by the foliage. The European species has glossy green, rounded leaves making it a beautiful ground cover in moist or dry shaded areas. Seeds and spreads nicely. Plant seedlings gathered from Cady’s Falls Gardens where they rated it “…among the best of the best!”
