Antennaria Dioca (Asteraceae)
Also known as Mountain everlasting or pussy toes. It is an alpine plant preferring the cool, dry mountain regions of Eurasia and North America, but only in Alaska. It seems to really need good drainage. It grows from a rosette of basal leaves with smaller leaves arranged spirally up the flower stalk. It makes an attractive 2”-3” ground cover of silvery leaves that spread 1’-2’. A unique, well behaved perennial for the front of the garden or around stones. Flowers dry nicely.
