Geranium (Geraniaceae)
Cranesbill, is a hardy, ornamental plant with aromatic, palmate leaves, sometimes in rich reds and purples with pale pink, red and blue flowers that bloom over a long season. It is a spreading groundcover to 12 in tall and a spread of 24 in. that can colonize areas especially in a damp rich soil. Grows less aggressively on drier, less fertile soil. In the fall, the leaves on some species turn a beautiful rich, red color. G. Macrorrhizum is the source of geranium oil used in the perfume trade.
