Globularia cordifolia (Globulariaceae)
Commonly known as globe daisy, globularia is a genus of about 20 species that occur in open rocky habitat around the Mediterranean region. A low growing mat or hummock forming, mainly evergreen plant, sometimes forming a woody base. They make leathery, simple leaves and tiny 2-lipped, usually purple or bluish flowers in a dense spherical head. G. cordifolia has lavender blue stemless flowers in mid-summer to only 2”-3” that sit over a dense evergreen mound of glossy, spoon shaped foliage. Makes a choice rock garden plant.
