This well known ornamental vine has been a big part of ornamental landscaping for centuries especially in Japan and China. They can grow quite large up a trellis and are hung with large purple bundles of flowers that look like a bunch of grapes in early summer. Being in the pea family, the flowers mature into bean pods.
