Geum, also known as avens, is a hardy perennial which has nearly worldwide distribution. The plant forms a low growing mound of coarse green leaves that can remain evergreen through the Winter. In late Spring early Summer, wiry stems with a fiery red, semi-double blooms rise above the foliage. They like full sun, but can also grow in partial shade. Makes a great cut flower, and deadheading will encourage more blooms.
