Asclepias Tuberosa (Asclepiadaceae) - Butterfly Weed

A showy species of the milkweed family with bright orange flowers that attract loads of butterflies and pollinators. Hence one of the common names is butterfly weed. Also known as pleurisy root because of its reputed affect in treating pulmonary complaints. Kind of a weed in parts south of us, takes a little more fussing here needing a good sunny location to thrive. Another beautiful, native plant.
