Lathyrus Latifolia (Fabaceae)

Perennial sweet pea is originally from Europe where it has been grown as an ornamental since the 16th century. A vining plant that can grow up to 6 ft with pea-like flowers in shades of white and pink that have no scent unlike their annual cousins. Considered a weed in warmer climates, but not so vigorous in zone 4. Can make a nice Summer screen and cut flower. One of the flowers grown by Jefferson in his famous gardens at Monticello.
