Astragalus membranaceus (Leguminosae) - Milk Vetch

Astragulus, or milk vetch, grows 2-4 ft. with vetch like leaves and yellow, pea like flowers. Not particularly showy, but an important adaptogen herbs and one of the 50 essential herbs in TCM. Likes a deep well drained and slightly alkaline soil. Roots are harvested in the Fall after 4-6 years.
