Geum Quellyum (Rosaceae) - Avens or Sea thrift

Geum, also known as avens is a hardy perennial which has nearly worldwide distribution. Our plants come from the South American strains. The plant forms a low growing mound of course green leaves that can remain evergreen through the Winter. In late Spring early Summer, wiry stems with a fiery red, semi-double blooms rise above the foliage. They like full sun, but can also grow in partial shade. Makes a great cut flower, and deadheading will encourage more blooms. We carry a common cultivar called ‘Blazing Sunset’.
